Positions include Millwrights, Electricians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, Building Maintenance Operators, etc.ResponsibilitiesDisplays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and cultureReads, understands and follows all safe work practices and procedures for machinery and equipment.Uses the proper tools to meet the specific job requirements.Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment.Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures.Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts.Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems.Repairs electrical equipment.Installs electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed.Reports work performed in the Maintenance PM Program.Contacts Lead Hand to coordinate all subcontractors and vendors.Obtains estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.Operates a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.Attends weekly toolbox meetings.Follows work schedules.Completes tasks with minimal NCR’s.Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required.Consistently follows and encourages shop rules.Willing to work overtime when needed.QualificationsMust be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a journeyperson (Millwright, Heavy Equipment Technician, Electrician, etc.);Knowledge/Experience with Pneumatic, Electrical and Hydraulic systems;Knowledge/Experience with Peddinghaus equipment ie: CNC Drill Lines/Saw, CNC Angle /Sheer Line; Demag Overhead cranes systems; Plasma Punches; Burning Tables; Sandblasting Equipment an asset;Fall Protection training;Lock out/Tag out training;Aerial Work Platform training required;FLHA Training required;Root cause analysis training an asset;Basic and/or Advanced Rigging an asset;Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset;WHMIS.Working ConditionsThe incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise and numerous hazardous fumes.Physical RequirementsThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, limited lifting, and sitting. *Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted.
