What you will be doing:Through innovative practices, Youth Community Safety Liaisons (YCSLs) mobilize youth-serving agencies, stakeholders, youth, and communities to address crime and disorder. Through a community development lens, YCSLs empower active participants in creating unique, sustainable and positive community change. YCSLs strive to engage with youth and bring their voice to the table regarding community safety issues, with the intention that youth feel empowered to become active members of their communities and feel a sense of community connection.YCSLs are part of the Neighborhood Empowerment Team (NET) which is a partnership with the City of Edmonton and the Edmonton Police Service. NET’s mission is to work together with communities to build collaborative solutions to address identified safety issues. NET engages with diverse individuals, communities, and professionals by utilizing community development principles, approaches, and practices.This position reports to a Supervisor of Community Initiatives at The Family Centre.
