Job Description

Department: Operations Reports to: Director of Operations, Whistler Direct Reports: None, Volunteers Position Statusamp; Locations: Termed Employment, Whistler Position Start Date: October 1, 2024 Salary: $4583 - $5000 monthly About Invictus Games 2025: The Invictus Games is a biennial international adaptive sporting competition for wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans from around the world. Through the power of sport, the Games inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who have served their country.The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, on the traditional territories of the Lil̓wat7úl (Líl̓wat), xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Over 500 wounded, injured and sick service personnel and Veterans from more than 20 nations are set to compete in a wide range of adaptive sports, including adaptive winter sports, for the first time in Invictus Games history.The Vancouver Whistler Games Corporation (VWGC) is a Canadian not-for-profit organization established to organize and host the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. The RoleThe Skeleton Lead plays an important role in the operational fulfillment on both venue and sport for the Skeleton event hosted at the Whistler Sliding Centre. This position involves coordinating all aspects of venue operations in partnership with the venue owner. They will also assist with the planningand delivery of the sport competition for 2 days of Skeleton within the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025. The Whistler Sliding Centre is committed to creating a safe and accessible experience for the competitors, and the Skeleton Lead will work closely with Whistler Sport Legacies to conduct the event. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and has a strong understanding of event management and winter sports.Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Work on key event documents including venue operations plan, daily run sheets, sport competition plan, and more.
  • Assist with Venue Coordination and work with all relevant stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure optimal venue operations during the event
  • Coordinate with the venue owner to ensure the competition standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations during the Games.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Skeleton and assist our Skeleton Coach on working with Team Managers on briefings, training, and competition schedules.
  • Coordinate with technical officials and Whistler Sliding Centre staff to manage race timing, scoring, and results.
  • Support the logistics of equipment storage, transport, and maintenance specific to Skeleton.
  • Implement and oversee safety protocols for both competitors and spectators.
  • Ensure that all sport-specific regulations and requirements are met during events.
  • Respond to any incidents or emergencies promptly and effectively.
  • Support on other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:
  • Proven experience in sport management, event operations, or related fields, with a minimum of 2 years in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of winter sports and operations, especially within sliding sports like Skeleton, Bobsleigh, or Luge.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards governing Sskeleton operations.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required during the event period.
