Job Description

If you are an experienced, detail oriented Human Resources Generalist who has a passion for people , Emerson-Appleton Group Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Elmira, ON location , reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will help support the HR Department in all aspects of general HR functions and administrative duties including record keeping, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, training development and delivery, performance and development and engagement activities and initiatives. The HR Generalist’s role will be focused on our primary customer – our employees. We offer work life balance, flexible work schedules, a gym on site and free coffee/tea.AS A HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST YOU WILL:

  • Process, verify, update and maintain employment records related to all stages of employment from hiring to changes in employment status with Oracle HCM Cloud, Send Word Now, Manulife, Sun Life and Oracle Recruit
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects and initiatives. This includes coordination of time and attendance, bi-weekly hours worked for payroll, maintaining up-to-date headcount, pension and benefits administration and employee recognition programs.
  • Participate and complete tasks related to total recruitment, from initiating a requisition to onboarding of new hires.
  • Perform professional level HR input and activities to develop, implement, administer, and communicate human resources policies, programs and procedures; performance and development management; pension and benefits administration; coaching and team building; corrective action issues; and compliance initiatives.
  • Promote HR program to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace, assist with developing strategies to address workforce gaps and surpluses and proactively work to assist in the optimization of talent.
  • Administer and update the HR Appleton SharePoint site regularly and help promote communication and engagement via electronic means.
  • Help with other projects and initiatives to support human resources and environmental, health and safety supporting our Culture and One-Emerson Values, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Wellness and our philosophies of 12 Lifesaving Behaviours.

  • Post-secondary education in related discipline such as Human Resource Management or Business Administration
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems
  • 3-5 years of experience in a Human Resources department
  • Solid understanding of Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code and AODA.
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Time management, organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, planning and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate high interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Professional, courteous, and pleasant demeanor to deal with all levels of employees in person and on the phone
  • Ability to prioritize work with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada – sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
PREFERRED Education, Experience & Skills
  • CHRP designation or working towards is an asset
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset
  • Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Experience with Oracle HCM HRIS or payroll systems is an asset
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft office applications and cloud-based applications.
