Administrative Assistant EWSWA (Temporary)Department: AdministrationLocation: Essex, ONPosition type: Full-time Temporary(35hr. /week)Posting #: SWA-8-24 Opening Date: September 17, 2024Internal Closing date: September 25, 2024Closing date: September 29, 2024 Who We Are:The Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority (EWSWA) is the governmental agency charged with the responsibility of providing an economical and environmentally conscious integrated solid waste management system for the County of Essex and the City of Windsor. The mission of the EWSWA is to provide programs to manage the solid, non-hazardous waste generated in the County of Essex and the City of Windsor in an environmentally sound manner through processes which include, but are not necessarily limited to reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, and landfilling.Day in the Life:

  • Receive incoming calls, visitors and inquiries, provide information and direct as appropriate.
  • Assist the Manager, Finance and Administration with records management such as data entry, reporting and online submissions.
  • Bi-weekly payroll data entry.
  • Process and distribute documents related to personnel activities such as attendance control forms, subsidy applications, new employees, change of status, etc.
  • Compile monthly, annual and biannual Waste Diversion and Waste Disposal reports for internal management purposes and submission to the Environment Ministry.
  • Coordinate information to respond to various agencies.
  • Assist the EWSWA Managers with records management through Access database for Inventory related tasks (RFQs for inventory, data entry for deliveries, reportingamp; for budget preparation, etc.)
  • Type correspondence, forms, and provide regular ongoing clerical support for the EWSWA.Manage electronic and hardcopy archiving.
  • Support the EWSWA document management protocols and records management, destruction of records etc.
  • Act as back up support for other EWSWA positions on an ongoing basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For:
  • Must have a 2 Year College diploma in Office Administration-Executive, Accounting or related discipline.
  • Must have 1-2 years of related experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word).
  • Database administration experience (Microsoft Access).
  • Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting methods and tasks.
  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written), organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with Ontario’s accessibility laws and standards as they apply to written correspondence and report writing.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle for work related purposes (travel within Windsor and/or the County of Essex is required).
  • Must provide a Police Information Check (PIC) document.
Hours of Work:The full-time paid hours of work shall be forty (35) hours per week as scheduled, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., including a one-half (½) hour paid lunch.What We Are Offering: A starting salary of $31.32 is just the beginning.
