Roads Maintenance Student LabourerDepartment: Infrastructure ServicesLocation: Essex, OntarioPosition type:Student, Full Time (40 hr./week)Posting #: COE-01-24 Salary: $17.19 per hourStart date: May 6, 2024Posting Opening Date: January 16, 2024Teamsters Closing Date: January 24, 2024General Closing Date: February 15, 2024Who We Are:The Corporation of the County of Essex is an upper-tier municipal government providing programs and services to a population of approximately 193,000 residents. The County also provides some shared services with the City of Windsor, reaching approximately 422,000 residents regionally. Day In The Life:

  • Maintain County roads including repairing pot holes
  • Perform maintenance duties including grass cutting, weed whipping and tree trimming
  • Assist with traffic control at various sites
  • Assist with other tasks and duties, as required
What We Are Looking For:
  • Ability to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and physically able to perform heavy lifting
  • Experience with operating a lawn tractor and weed whip is considered an asset
  • Mechanical skills and experience with routine maintenance is considered an asset
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario driver’s license
  • Must provide a Ministry of Transportation Driver Abstract (Uncertified)
  • Must be returning to full-time studies in September 2024
