Job Description

Posting Number: 2122-95Anticipated Duration: Immediately to June 30, 2022Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per weekRate of Pay: $33.65 per hour plus vacation payLocations: (1) Crossroads School, Supporting schools in the west end of the district(1) Mine Centre School, Supporting schools in Mine Centre & AtikokanJob Summary:

  • Re-engage students and support re-entry to school plans
  • Plan and coordinate outreach activities that are intended to identify, capture the interest of, and foster involvement of at-
risk youth (and their families) including but not limited to;o eliciting, receiving and sharing information about their interests, concerns and needso providing information regarding relevant programs, services and opportunitieso enabling and supporting positive participation in their school community
  • Plan and implement in-school and online activities that support positive school experiences which may include skills in
social/emotional learning and learning skills
  • Incorporate land-based learning opportunities for youth
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents/guardians to foster positive ongoing communication between school and home
  • Provide school staff professional learning and development to support re-engagement of students and their families
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma
  • Successful completion of a diploma or degree in social work or equivalent
  • Education or experience working with Indigenous communities and groups
  • Three (3) years’ experience working with students, parents and community;
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture, heritage, values and history;
  • Must have a strong understanding of challenges that students face;
  • Strong verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • A valid driver’s license (class “G” minimum)
