Bird Deterrent Cannon Operator - Suncor BasePlantOur clients operate an array of deterrents for the purposes of keeping birds and wildlife away from the tailings ponds and other process-affected water bodies around site. This team of operators is tasked with ensuring that the deterrents are functioning properly so as to effectively haze and protect wildlife. Operators have a wide skillset and as such our teams are diverse.Primary ResponsibilitiesDeterrent Operations: · Travel around site to stationed deterrents· Perform break-fix activities and preventative maintenance· Replace propane tanks as required· Repair or replace miscellaneous parts on radar system· Transport and commission various types of deterrents· Maintain diligent maintenance logs and records· Take GPS coordinates of deterrent locations· Travel on boats to repair and check on floating deterrent unitsOil Sands Bird Technician Teams: · Collect data as per OSBTT Protocols during daily activities· Input data into data collection software· Use tablets when required· Use of handheld GPS units· Operate boats for the purposes of data collection and maintenanceSite Specific: · Travel on site roads, in the Mine, ¾ Ton 4x4 Truck· Comply with Site permitting system· Maintain proper housekeeping· Handle equipment with care and return to storage locations· Participate in site HSE initiatives and Hazard Identification· Attend all site specific and Acden Helios specific training· Sign into site offices when visiting areas for sample collectionGeneral Responsibilities· Follow site driving rules and any standard that goes above and beyond that of Acden Helios· Comply with Drug & Alcohol Testing policies· Submit to Acden Helios Employee Handbook standards and policies· Proficiency in English and primary use on site· Comply with Safety Campaigns from Acden Helios· Report any concerns through the chain of command· Comply with all government programs that you are enrolled in· Treat company or client-supplied equipment with care and respect· Arrive at work rested, clear-headed, washed and professional· Work outside in inclement weather, whenever safe to do so· Have a valid Class 5 Drivers license and Abstract· Understand that your role may take you outside of these descriptions as the work evolves and growsPhysical Effort: Lift 50 lbsRepetitive Movements: HighField Work vs. Office: 90%-10%Shift: 7 days on, 7 days offSafety Sensitive Role: YesEligible for Overtime: YesAcden Helios is an equitable opportunity employer.
