Job Description

DCS Coordinator - (2211900)The Opportunity:Reporting to the Control Systems Lead, you will drive and direct coordination of all the technical work for the distributed control systems (DCS) on site. You will work alongside DCS specialists to handle projects and improvements to the system. You will have the opportunity to provide strong mentorship and training to DCS specialists and engineers, interface with external engineering contractors as well as site operations, maintenance, reliability and process engineering teams to ensure compliance with scheduled work DCS KPIs and provide leadership.Key Accountabilities:

  • Manage workload and schedules for control systems engineers/specialists: delegate tasks, organize workflow and design team’s strategy in compliance with company’s goals and vision
  • Provide leadership and support in development of vision and goals within the control systems group and provide coverage for Lead control systems as required. Develop AFEs, proposals and provide budgetary numbers for projects and upgrades
  • Manage/maintain hardware and software obsolescence in DCS and be accountable for technical integrity. As well, manage and support upgrades and migrations of control systems
  • Drive continuous improvements to increase reliability, uptime and availability of control systems and develop, implement and execute predictive maintenance strategies for control systems
  • Conduct or support capex or in-house project execution, provide technical support and supervision to vendors and contractors
  • Devise and manage cybersecurity, disaster recovery, business continuity, health monitoring and performance reporting (KPIs) for distributed control systems
  • Develop and manage control systems health monitoring, critical documentation, standards and specifications, policies, procedures and best practices
  • Maintain and support third party applications PI, Dynamo, ACM, and UTL

  • Shift schedule: 4x3, M-Th, 10Hr

Skills & Qualifications:
  • An Electrical/Instrumentation/Controls Engineering degree or Engineering Technology Diploma in related disciplines (Process Control, Instrumentation, Electrical/Computer, Petroleum, Chemical)
  • Minimum of 10 years related industry experience (DCS, SIS, SCADA, PLC, Process Control)
  • Registered or eligible for registration as Professional Engineer with APEGA.
  • Familiarity with Foxboro and Honeywell DCS is considered an asset
  • Experience in a leadership role in an oil processing facility is considered an asset
  • Excellent decision making, mentoring/leadership, problem solving and communication skills
  • Highly motivated and self-managed
  • Able to work independently, in a team environment and under a high work load environment
