Job Description

  • Operate a large excavator/track hoe in a safe manner while maintaining awareness of ones surroundings
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections of equipment to confirm it is in proper working condition
  • Grease, oil and fill fluids for the equipment as necessary
  • Read and interpret ground markings in order to ensure proper depth to grade is followed
  • Use the hoe/excavator to dig the trench to proper depth/grade
  • Work in close proximity with trench personnel and follow directions of the pipelayer and underground foreman closely.
  • Excavate a trench to acceptable Occupation Health & Safety standards
  • Be aware of changes in soil conditions such as depth changes that can effect operations
  • Communicate with the loader to ensure the proper materials are present when needed
  • All other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
  • More than 3 years of experience in municipal projects is an asset
  • More than 1 year experience as a Hoe Operator
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Must comply with company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Willing to work out of town and in remote locations, as required.
  • Willing to work overtime, as required.
