Job Description

Your Opportunity:Alberta Health Services has a key leadership role as an Executive Associate supporting the Senior Operating Officer (SOO) in the Alberta Health Services North Zone. The Executive Associate is responsible for providing senior administrative management services to the Senior Operating Office portfolio and reports directly to the SOO. You will assist the SOO in ensuring seamless service delivery, senior administrative support, issues management, strategic planning, portfolio support, project support, committee support, and act as a stakeholder and community liaison. In this role you will provide necessary executive support services to build the portfolios strength and effectiveness and apply best practices to ensure continuous improvement on the portfolio goals and outcomes, thus allowing the SOO to focus on strategic leadership and organizational matters. You will build consistency and continuity within a portfolio, between portfolios and organizationally, while providing background and strategic advice on issues related to administrative management, policies, and organizational matters. Located within Fort McMurray which resides on Treaty 8 territory, the largest treaty by area in the history of Canada. Fort McMurray is a family-oriented city 442 kilometers northeast of Edmonton. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Must be able to travel in conjunction with the Senior Operating Officer.Description:Alberta Health Services (AHS) mission is to provide a patient focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans. In line with the AHS mission, a key responsibility for this role will include work in supporting and helping lead culturally safe care. Additional responsibilities include although are not limited to providing background and strategic advice on issues related to administrative management, recommendation, policies, and organizational matters. As the Executive associate we will look for you to lead, facilitate and act on behalf of the senior leadership team in managing initiatives, both new and in development. You will manage and coordinate administrative and leadership activities and projects as well as support AHS priorities and initiatives relevant to local areas. Acting as liaison with internal and external stakeholders you will come with a proven ability to work within a team as a contributing member. This role is responsible for the administration, coordination, and management of long-range planning within the portfolio, providing leadership and/or guidance to project teams, acting as resource, delegating projects from the Executive and tracking progress of various projects. You will provide a communication link within the portfolio, the organization and with outside partners and stakeholders. The Executive Associate is accountable for conducting monthly monitoring of departmental budgets, working with managers and directors to examine ways that costs are contained, and budgets are balanced. You will also provide business support with proposal development, financial reporting and additional senior administrative management support as needed.

Required Qualifications:A minimum of a university degree in health services administration, business administration or related area. Several years of related experience in the field, ideally in a healthcare and clinical setting. In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Previous experience working directly with Internal and External stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Strong verbal and public speaking skills. Excellent written communication skills. Proven ability to work collaboratively with other team members from other areas.Additional Required Qualifications:Must be able to travel in conjunction with the Senior Operating Officer.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of health care and business processes within AHS is an asset. Experience working independently within a large organization with a variety of staffing groups. Strong client service orientation.
