Job Description

Geographics Information Systems Student - (2211919)The Opportunity:This Oil Sands site is a world class operation offering countless opportunities to advance your environmental career in an atmosphere where teamwork, innovation and your expertise are valued. In this position, you will assist with providing full-cycle support to projects within FieldMaps and Survey123 for ArcGIS. You will help build and maintain innovative models and GIS solutions for unique environmental situations and provide GIS support for regulatory compliance reports, including data editing, data management, and cartography.Key Accountabilities:

  • Create and maintain Web maps and Web Apps (operations dashboard) within ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Assist with providing full-cycle support to projects within Collector and Survey123 for ArcGIS
  • Help post-processing data generated through Collector, including working with MS Access
  • Manage (review, update, organize) existing and new environmental Geographic Information System (GIS) data
  • Provide GIS support for regulatory compliance reports, including data editing, data management, and cartography
  • Assist with “Ad Hoc” requests for GIS based mapping and analysis across the organization
  • Help build and maintain innovative models and GIS solutions for unique environmental situations
  • Assist with non-spatial data management for various Environmental disciplines (MS Office)
  • Promote environmental awareness and compliance throughout the mine site
  • Assist in various environmental field tasks such as equipment management, wildlife management, water sampling, and reclamation monitoring and/or soil samples

  • Job location: Fort McMurray Oilsands – Albian and/or Horizon
  • Work schedule: 4x3, 10 HR
  • Students will be responsible for finding their own accommodations during the work term. Note, candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance pursuant to Canadian Natural’s Student Relocation Policy
  • Company sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton
  • This is a safety sensitive position
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a GIS degree, applied degree or diploma program
  • Solid understanding and experience of ESRI products (ESRI ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst, Model Builder)
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
  • Previous field data collection experience using ArcGIS
  • ArcGIS Enterprise knowledge is an asset
  • Previous FME, Python, AutoCAD experience is an asset
  • An understanding of remote sensing methods and data processing (LiDAR; Photogrammetry) is an asset
  • Must be physically capable of working outside in the field on difficult terrain and in all weather. Students should be aware that work will be 20% in field locations and 80 % in office environments
