Job Description

Position Scope:Reports directly to the Director, Field Maintenance, however works closely with the site Project Manager and operations teams to support the equipment requirements of the site. Responsible for all site maintenance activities that are needed to manage, maintain, support and plan the equipment repairs and maintenance that are required to achieve availability and costing standards. This includes the management of planning, supervision, workforce and vendor support that are needed to meet job responsibilities.Shift: 9x5Site: Syncrude - Aurora or Fort HillsLiving Out Allownace: ProvidedResponsibilities:Equipment availability and costs management

  • Has overall responsibility to manage the site equipment maintenance functions.
  • Responsible to manage, control and report on costs for the applicable area and provide detailed understanding of the business unit costs on a monthly basis.
  • Sets goals and targets that are effective in reducing equipment costs and increases equipment availabilities.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and updates to the Equipment Manager and/or General Manager.
  • Implements and enforces the JDE equipment management tools, such as the work order, to effectively capture and build accurate data for historical analysis and reliability trending.
  • Participates in maintenance strategy meetings to help identify and improve maintenance efficiency and functionality.
Effective performance management of employees and staff
  • Works closely with HR department to find and develop the necessary staff and hourly employees needed for efficient operation of the site maintenance.
  • Builds and develops effective teams that will provide the support to manage and maintain the equipment fleets in a safe, effective and cost-efficient manner that meets all government regulations and company standards.
Safety management
  • Ensures safety is the number one priority of the work that is being done by employees.
  • Maintains all standards set out by the company and government regulations that are needed to accomplish goals and objectives laid out as per company requirements
Mentor and guide personnel to become effective high performers
  • Overall, provide positive and effective leadership that supports all company goals and objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Technical or university education related to the field of equipment maintenance;
  • Formal training in the following related areas:
    • Supervision / Leadership
    • Maintenance Planning
    • CMMS systems
    • Costing for maintenance fleet management
  • Progressive levels of management responsibility in a Heavy construction or Mining environment;
  • 10 years Maintenance Supervisor experience;
  • 5 years Maintenance Superintendent or Maintenance Manager experience; and
  • Planning background
  • Proven Leadership ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven track record in equipment management
  • Strong technical background and understanding of heavy equipment maintenance
  • Must be able to work independently or with others both up and down
  • Results-orientated
  • Must be able to travel: Work will be primarily in the Fort McMurray area, supporting the equipment. Travel and stay in the area will be required to execute this role properly.
Summary:All successful candidates must:
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Have experience as requested as mentioned above
  • Subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Disclose COVID-19 vaccination status:
  • Fully immunized individuals must provide government issued proof of vaccination to be exempt from site testing requirements
  • Individuals not fully immunized may be subject to site COVID-19 testing requirements and associated costs
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
  • Breath Alcohol Test
  • Urine Drug Test
  • Fitness-to-Work Assessment
  • Audiometric Testing
  • Vision Screening
Shift, site, and start times are subject to change.All successful candidates MUST provide the following items prior to confirmation of their start date:
  • CSO Certification
  • Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Copy of recent Driver’s Abstract
  • VOID cheque/direct deposit form
