Join us and let’s get started.As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in each person’s potential, and we’ll help you reach yours.The OpportunityWe are hiring Instrumentation Technician Journeypersons to join our CNRL Horizon project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a full-time permanent position; Shift schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off.This is a fly-in/fly-out position and as such will be subject to the Government of Canada’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements: Depending on your Vaccination status, it is a requirement to follow these instructions. If you fail to meet these requirements you will be refused boarding and will be charged the missed flight fee of $260.

  • Fully Vaccinated (2 shots + 14 days) – Proof of vaccination and a rapid test done within 72 hours of travel (if you have been off CNRL site for more than 30 days).
  • Partially Vaccinated (1 shot) – Proof of 1 shot, and a PCR test done within 72 hours of travel.
  • Unvaccinated – If you are not vaccinated, you will not be permitted to board your charter flight as per Site and Federal Regulations.
  • Driving – If you are driving to site, you will require proof of a negative rapid test within 72 hours of travel.
What Will You Work OnInstrument technicians install, maintain, and repair the measuring and control devices used in industrial and commercial processing. Instrument Technicians work with a wide variety of pneumatic, electronic and microcomputer devices used to measure and control pressure, flow, temperature, level, motion, force, and chemical composition.Responsibilities
  • Be able to take directions, and receptive to training and mentoring, with a strong team focus and mentality
  • Tubing experience
  • Moderate to strong abilities with Microsoft office, outlook and other proprietary software that may be needed on site.
  • Experience with DCS systems and control hierarchy (preferably Delta V, AMS and control studio). Commissioning and configuring of instruments considered an asset.
  • Expertly read and comprehend drawings, specifications, P&ID’s, ILPs and isometrics
  • Expert tool usage
  • Highly proficient with electronic dead weight testers (Crystal), process meters (Fluke 744/754 or equivalent), Ralston pumps, TREX/475 field communicators and other forms of simulating testing equipment
  • Implement safe work practices and procedures
  • Maintain exceptional workmanship habits
  • Experience with a multitude of instrument manufacturers such as Rosemount, VEGA, Krohne, Flowserve, Metso, Fisher, Yokogawa and others
  • Expert knowledge of Hazardous location requirements
Minimum Requirements:
  • Journeyperson Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection
  • Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space Entry/Monitoring
