Job Description

Waypoints is a registered, non-profit charity that has been operating in Fort McMurray since 1982. Waypoints offers facilities, programs and services for people that have experienced, or are experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence. Waypoints also provides the community with public awareness events, initiatives, and educational programs to increase the prevention of domestic and sexual violence in the Wood Buffalo region. Waypoints owns and operates Unity House, an Emergency Women’s Shelter, a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, an Outreach Centre for domestic violence and counselling services, the Opportunities for Change Centre, the Sexual Assault Healing Centre, and the Compass, home of our Second Stage Shelter for women in need of transitional housing, as well as open-market, affordable housing.We are currently seeking a full-time Outreach Manager. Reporting directly to the Director of Program Development, the Outreach Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of direct services for Waypoints’ Domestic Violence Outreach Team and Waypoints’ Counselling Services Team, while ensuring that staff maintain a high standard of service and safety in accordance with Waypoints’ policies and procedures. The services are operated out of newly renovated offices, and group program delivery space. The Outreach Manager is also a member of the Waypoints’ Leadership Team.Terms of Employment:

  • Compensation: $72,520 annual salary, plus cost of living allowance of $12,480 annually
  • This is a salaried position with an expectation of 37.5 hours per week with the ability to flex hours of work to accommodate community and agency needs. Excellent benefits package, including matching RRSP program for staff.
  • Mandatory full, COVID vaccination required as per Government of Alberta recommendations.
Education: Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Sciences or Education preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: Minimum 3 years of management experience in addition to a minimum of 3 years working in the field of domestic violence preferred. Experience working with indigenous populations required. Strong computer skills and competency in working with data base systems and outcome reporting is required.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Personnel Management
  • Supervise operations of the Outreach Program, including all programs and services delivery staff.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and discipline staff as necessary in consultation with the Director of Program Development, and assist with recruitment of project and/or contract staff as required.
  • Recommend staff dismissal to the Executive Director when necessary.
  • Provide individual supervision with staff including goal setting and completion of performance reviews at the end of the probation period and complete annual staff performance appraisals.
  • Conduct a comprehensive orientation for new staff, and support development of collaborative and cooperative team relationships.
  • Monitor and approve timesheets of staff who report directly to the Outreach Services Manager.
  • Prepare and post staff shift schedules and replacement shifts.
  • Ensure emergency procedures are in place and practiced for emergency situations.
  • Assist where needed in keeping up-to-date personnel records.
  • Support staff with professional development and training plans, in collaboration with the Leadership Committee. Conduct meetings with direct reports as required.
  • Staff Relationships
1. Facilitate role clarity and positive working relationships among staff and volunteers.2. Assist the Leadership Committee in planning and facilitation of monthly staff meetings, focusing on team building, collaborative support, training opportunities, program enhancements and processes.3. Conduct regular client consultation with direct reports.4. Ensure that the programs’ needs for volunteers are communicated to the Volunteer Coordinator.5. Act as liaison with the Waypoints’ Shelter and Sexual Assault Programs Managers to coordinate service delivery.6. Act as liaison with the funding providers to ensure reporting and outcomes set by funders are met by the staff delivering the direct services.C. Program Budget Administration and Planning1. Prepare annual program budgets for Executive Director approval.2. Monitor and approve staff time sheets and ensure that vacation time, sick time and overtime are properly authorized.3. Oversee development and implementation of programs within established budget allocations.4. Approve and plan staff training opportunities.D. Program Planning, Case Management, Evaluation and Outcome Reporting 1. Oversee all documentation and inputs for the data base.2. Establish ongoing program improvement supported by program evaluations, outcome monitoring and client feedback.3. Coordinate client case management, when needed.4. Provide support, guidance and advocacy in cases that are deemed high risk and/or high needs.5. Ensure service plans include action plans for safety and support for moving clients forward.6. Ensure clients receive a timely danger assessment and safety plan.7. Support and guide staff in completion of accurate client data entry into data system and in other client reports.8. Provide outcome reports required for core and project funding requirements.9. Oversee the completion and submission of all required program evaluations from clients.10. Oversee development and implementation of program plans and upgrades, supported by best practices.E. Community Collaboration
  • Represent Waypoints in community collaborations and partnerships, focusing on client advocacy, service coordination and program planning.
  • Act as a liaison with community organizations such as police, Victim services, and communities (both urban and rural) and government organizations.
  • Provide educational presentations in the community upon request or as delegated by Executive Director.
*F. Assist Executive Director1. Assist the Executive Director in corporate areas affecting direct services in the Outreach Services Department, such as program promotion, budget preparation, program policies and procedures, corporate staff development and strategic planning.Specific Skills & Duties: Ø Promote a positive and healthy environment for staff and clients/participants by acting in an equitable, inclusive, and professional manner, in addition to ensuring Waypoints’ safety policies and procedures are being upheld.Ø Planning, developing, implementing, and supervising the quality delivery of Outreach and Counselling Services.Ø Overseeing a full spectrum of services including, but not limited to: counselling, support services, public education, outreach, awareness initiatives and training throughout the Regional Municipality of Wood BuffaloØ Supervising 5 full-time employees including assisting in hiring, performing job performance reviews, providing direction, recognition, education and training opportunities, providing discipline when required, and assisting with terminations as necessary.Ø Supervise staff work to ensure program delivery objectives are being met, provide on-going feedback and support to staff.Ø Assign work to staff.Ø Provide staff scheduling, and when needed appropriate coverage when staff are unavailable.Ø Ensure payroll information is entered accurately by staff and approve timesheets, vacation and wellness time requests.Ø Acting as the department’s liaison with various local and provincial organizations and representing the department to the media and community at large.Ø Responsible for securing program and client materials and supplies.Ø Complete all required documentation, including ensuring accurate data entry on services offered, participation and other required statistical information in a timely manner.Ø Responsible for collecting, compiling, and reporting feedback from clients/participants.Ø Prepare and submit program reports as requested by the Funder and/or the Director of Program Development.Ø Attend meetings with partner agencies.Ø Oversee the program to ensure best practices are in place and that policies and procedures are followed.Ø Secure Clinical Supervision for the counselling team and both coordinate and participate in Supervision Meetings.Ø Work with Waypoints’ Facilities Manager to ensure any facility cleaning, maintenance and repair issues are addressed quickly and efficiently.Ø Work with the Sexual Assault Program Manager on outreach, education, awareness and facility- use coordination.Ø Responsible for training new Outreach and Counselling employees.Ø Responsible for Outreach and Counselling purchasing.Ø Responsible for processing and reporting expenses to Waypoints Finance Department and staying within budget targets for the program.Ø Participate in Waypoints’ Leadership Group, including working on projects.Ø Other duties as assigned by the Director of Program DevelopmentAdditional Skills: Ø Strong leadership abilitiesØ Requires a comprehensive knowledge of the topic of family violenceØ Familiarity with trauma-informed service deliveryØ Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and problem-solving skillsØ Knowledge of community resourcesØ Ability to network and coordinate with other community organizationsØ Strong Microsoft Office, and internet skillsØ Strong research skillsØ Understanding of client confidentiality and data securitySecurity and Safety: RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record CheckJob Types: Full-time, PermanentSalary: $72,520.00 per yearBenefits:
