Job Description

Overview:Project CoordinatorSureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with 49 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.We offer: Benefits, RRSP/TFSA MatchingJob Type: Full Time, Project-basedSchedule: 10+ hours per day, Rotation to Be Confirmed (will be dependent on successful candidate’s residence location)Location: Fort McMurray, AB – on-site through the winter months (Syncrude Mine) (potential to transfer to Edmonton (or stay in Ft. McMurray) projects in the spring)Essential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditionsRequirements:

  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract, Valid Driver’s License (non GDL)
Pre-employment:
  • Drug and alcohol testing (urine-based test)
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Project Coordinator Responsibilities:
  • Champion site safety and quality
  • Manage contracts
    • Identify and develop change orders
    • Develop daily LEMS
    • Perform hour tracking for costing and billing
    • Develop and review billing summaries
    • Liaise with Owner / General Contractor agent(s)
    • Develop and update schedules
  • Facilitate Site Logistics
    • Monitor site inventories (parts / materials)
    • Order parts / materials
    • Assist with deliveries (inspection, receiving, transferring)
    • Pickup materials / parts
    • Liaise with supervision / mechanical / trucking / lube staff
  • Manage subcontracts / subcontractors
  • Ensure field installations and methods align with drawings / specifications
  • Perform site inspections / close-out inspections
  • Develop work packages / execution plans for field installation
  • This is a general responsibilities list and does not include all responsibilities required of the position
Project Coordinator Qualifications:
  • C.E.T./P.Eng preferred but not required
  • Oil sands experience is an asset
  • Proficiency and ability to learn organizations computer systems and software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, AutoCAD
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner to the client, related project staff and the community
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as, being an independent self- starter with exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to work in physically demanding conditions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills required.
  • Must display and promote a continuous regard to safety.
