About the OpportunityHarmac Pacific currently has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Machinist to join our team in Nanaimo, B.C. The successful candidate will work as part of an integrated maintenance team that provides the full range of maintenance support for our pulp and power businesses. RequirementsTo qualify for the position, you will have an Interprovincial Machinist Trades Qualification and sound base knowledge of materials, and a well-rounded Machinist skill set that leans heavily towards manual machine operations.The ability to efficiently set up and operate manual lathes, manual milling machines, bandsaw, and most typical machine shop machinery. (Key-seater experience would be an asset)Work from drawings and written instructions making new and repair old parts. Repair and rework non-conforming parts back to specification.Be able to adapt to rush and emergency jobs that happen daily.Maintain a clean and organized work area. Demonstrate the values of safety, teamwork, and accountability and work well with others.Attention to detail, especially ensuring specific steps are followed to complete a task and have high standards towards quality control.You are an independent self-starter, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, you are highly organized and adaptable to changes in the work environment.
