ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT (HR) - EMPLOYEE RELATIONSThe Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) employs approximately 4,000 dedicated staff who serve more than 35,000 students attending a variety of programs across 65 elementary and 11 secondary schools as well as continuing education and adult learning centres in the counties of Dufferin, Wellington and the City of Guelph. We value the contributions that each person brings, and are committed to creating and maintaining an environment where everyone can participate fully, thrive, and reach their full potential.The Upper Grand District School Board is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Human Resources team in the capacity of Administrative Assistant (HR) - Employee Relations for this full-time, permanent position.LOCATION: Guelph Board Office (500 Victoria Rd. N, Guelph, ON)SALARYRANGE: $50,589.00 to $63,236.00 (per annum - 35 hours per week, 12-months per year)RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Labour and Employee Relations Manager and providing support to the Administrative Officer - Employee Relations within the assigned support staff portfolio, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Preparing job postings
  • Coordinating with various external advertisement agencies
  • Scheduling interviews, screening and filing resumes, completing reference checks
  • Preparing offers of employment
  • Processing and maintaining employee records (position changes, leaves, annual certifications, performance appraisals)
  • Maintaining casual supply lists
  • Data input/tracking and maintenance of various staffing, employee and HR related databases/spreadsheet information
  • Attending and supporting PD Day/training as needed
  • Corresponding in a positive and professional manner with various stakeholders and employees
  • Flexibility to perform and accomplish other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in office administration and/or Human Resource Management
  • Have or working towards professional designation i.e.: CHRP would be an asset
  • Minimum of one year of recent, related and professional experience in Human Resources
  • Understanding of and ability to apply relevant employment legislation and collective agreement language
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and customer service skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle high volumes accurately and within prescribed timelines
  • Collaborative, professional and collegial team-player
  • Initiative, sound judgement and a high degree of discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Excellent working knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft products (Excel/Word), Google Docs., HRIS and other databases.
  • Demonstrated understanding of commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience in a unionized/school board/public sector organization would be an asset
