Job Description

Buyer, ElectricalThe Buyer position, under direct supervision, is responsible for selecting and negotiating with approved vendors and placing purchase orders in response to service or material requirements (quantity and timing) typically established by the inventory planning function.Powering Vehicles, Motion, Work, and Lives since 1966.Performance Expectations· Purchase general and specialized equipment, materials or business services for use or for further processing.· Assess requirements and develop specifications for equipment, materials and supplies to be purchased.· Invite tenders, consult with suppliers and review quotations.· Determine or negotiate contract terms and conditions, award supplier contracts or recommend contract awards.· Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress and contact clients and suppliers to resolve problems.· Improve computerized tool inventory control system.· Follow purchasing procedures in place for the purchase of materials and services.· Issue and maintain records as needed.· Expedite orders as needed.· Assist in planning and achieving cost reduction goals.· Monitor and maintain supplier performance and communicate results.· Provide follow up on purchased items with suppliers.· Compare costs of purchasing options.· Evaluate monthly sales for current and past years to identify seasonal variations in sales.· Calculate year-to-date sales, average inventory levels, inventory turnover rates and order fill rates.· Negotiate contracts, terms and resolve disputes with suppliers.· Ability to judge the quality of products.· Ability to locate data in a variety of forms such as invoices, shipping receipts, special order request forms and new product information sheets.· Create spreadsheets for tracking inventory, planning ordering schedules and calculating costs for purchases.· Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility’s geographic location and:· ISO 14001: Environmental Management system standard.· ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety.Credentials· Extensive knowledge and experience in Electrical commodity, complex harnesses, electrical components from cables to connectors and sensors.· Post-Secondary Education in Business Administration, Commerce, or Economics.· Minimum two years experience.· AS400, IFS, MRP experience.· Use computer applications and communications software as needed.Desired Characteristics· Possess good communication skills, both oral and written.· Ability to work independently and in team setting to ensure effective forecasting, product distribution and marketing.What Linamar Has To Offer· Opportunities for career advancement.· Community based outreach supporting both local and global initiatives and charities.· Social committees and sports teams.· Discounts for local vendors and events, including auto supplier discounts.About UsSkyjack supplies construction rental companies globally with quality engineered, simple, and reliable access and telehandler equipment.
