***SIGNING BONUS FOR DIRECT HIRES: $200 UPON HIRE AND $300 BONUS UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF PROBATION PERIOD***JOB DESCRIPTION: Set Up Technician REPORTING TO: Director of OperationsPOSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the incumbent will work closely with project leaders to set-up new jobs on CNC vertical & horizontal machining centers and train machine operators on these jobs. The technician will set-up machines, and train new and existing machine operators in the proper usage of machinery and equipment.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set-up new processes.
  • Refine programs and create standard work.
  • Train new and existing operators in the safe operation and set-up of machines.
  • Identify and troubleshoot problems that arise with the set-up or process.
  • Continuous improvement activities such as cycle time reduction.
  • Report on new job production readiness to project leaders – Actual cycle time vs. quoted, Tooling issues, etc.
  • Report improvements to the Process Planners, with before and after data.
  • Assist in quoting and process design as needed.
  • Inspecting parts, as required.
  • Other duties as required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with CNC programming
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Well-versed with machine controls
  • Good understanding of G codes
  • Able to modify programs, read drawings, modify fixtures, verify cycle times, bar coding, etc.
  • Proper use of gauges and all necessary inspection devices
  • 5-10 years experience in machining and set-up of CNC turning and milling machines
  • Knowledge of tooling applications.
  • Superior math skills are required plus strong follow up skills.
OTHER PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Flexible with respect to working when necessary.
  • Incumbent must be safety conscious, as well as dedicated and reliable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to solicit support as needed
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, self-starter who can work well both independently and as part of a team.
