Job Description

Job Overview: Under the general direction of the Transportation and Logistics Manager, the Sr. Customs Coordinator is responsible for assuring proper flow of goods throughout the Canadian and US clearance operations while utilizing analytics and reporting to guarantee the effective use of inventory. This position in conjunction with our logistics partners ensures that importing processes are meeting the demands of customers in an effective and helps to ensure Customs Compliance of all Danby Products subsidiaries.You Will:

  • Provides training on operating standards and procedures for any customs related matters
  • Expert on import-export documentation and customs clearance data analysis
  • Support departmental performance against goals to ensure that targets are met and provides feedback and guidance if necessary to correct
  • Works closely with the Logistics Coordinator role to direct PO’s to the proper destinations in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Communicates variances in inventory and establishes corrective measures with supply chain planners in order to maintain prescribed levels of performance
  • Ensures adherence to established corporate purchasing policies and procedures
  • Creates new items, maintains items and manages the life cycle of items within the ERP system.
  • Maintains variables within the DRP product files
  • Maintains and updates customs compliance manuals and standard operation procedures at the corporate level for all divisions to ensure that Danby is meeting all requirements of customs for Canada and the U.S.
  • Acts as lead hand for the customs compliance internal team, effectively communicating changes and organizing the team to meet compliancy initiatives
  • Ensures that all documentation, records, classifications are accurate and updated in our system database
  • Coordinates all communication with customs broker and provides transactional direction as required
  • Ensures that all external-internal customs contacts are updated and accurate
  • Maintains awareness of necessary changes and their application to Danby in the customs field
  • Effective communication of major customs compliance issues to the management team
  • Knowledge on duty drawback performance and audits. Always focus on import-export cost savings
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager
Knowledge & Education Required:
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation or higher
  • Completion of a college 3-year diploma program in Supply Chain Management or Logistics is required
  • 3 years’ experience in the customs laws & regulation and HS code classification knowledge
  • Must possess strong understanding of international trade and logistical processes
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required for this position including experience with ERP/MRP/DRP replenishment software systems.
  • Problem-solving and analytical individual able to prioritize projects daily
  • creating reports and project management ability.
  • Candidates must also have excellent communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, able to build and maintain lasting relationships with key corporate business and external logistics partners.
