  • assist with the planning, organization and implementation of economic research and analytical studies
  • evaluate the potential impacts of proposed policy options using economic analysis tools and techniques
  • draft reports to communicate the results of studies for ministry staff as well as the general public
  • design and update data systems for collecting, processing and reporting
  • liaise with other levels of government and industry stakeholders to gather economic data regarding market performance, growth and other issues affecting the agriculture and food sectors
How do I qualifyEconomic analysis skills:
  • You have knowledge of economic theories, principles and best practices as they relate to the agricultural sector.
  • You have experience applying a variety of economic analysis tools and techniques (e.g. data models, trend analyses, long range forecasting, comparative data studies).
Computer skills:
  • You have advanced proficiency with spreadsheet and database software to gather and assess statistical and economic data.
  • You are proficient with common office software to prepare various correspondence and reports.
Research skills:
  • You have knowledge of various research methodologies, techniques and best practices as they relate to the agricultural sector.
  • You have experience planning, conducting and reporting on economic research studies.
Communication and relationship management skills:
  • You have oral communication skills to explain complex economic data to senior decision makers and the general public.
  • You have written communication skills to concisely communicate economic data through various reports and briefing materials.
  • You have interpersonal and relationship management skills to build collaborative working relationships with other levels of government and industry stakeholders.
