This will include data validation of our legacy property tax software system data as we embark on the implementation of new property tax software. Guided by the goals and objectives of the City of Guelph Corporate Strategic Plan and committed to the Corporate Values of integrity, service, inclusion, wellness and learning, the candidate will aid in the achievement of the Community Vision for an inclusive, connected, prosperous city.Your role

  • Assist in the data validation of Vailtech and Central Square Technologies through manual and imported data procedures
  • Run regular reports and queries and verify results
  • Ensure data follows a standardized process and correct any inconsistencies
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to report on progress and observations
  • Identify creative solutions to motivate consistent use of document and records control systems
  • Develop Standardized Operating Procedures related to data standardization for new property tax software
  • Maintaining an up-to-date data validation spreadsheet
  • Assist with finance related projects as they arise
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and 1-year post-secondary education in finance, accounting, records and data management, business, computer science or a related program, and 6-12 months experience performing data entry and analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills and project planning skills
  • A self-starter and able to work with limited supervision
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing work and attention to detail
  • Must be customer-service oriented and be able to work with different people to achieve the goals of the project
  • Advanced data management and computer skills, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must have analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills to verify accurate information and correct discrepancies in accordance with The City of Guelph’s requirements Experience using SQL to perform data extraction would be an asset.
