To learn more about our vision to help people living with mental illness and addiction, visit www.hriresearch.com.Position Overview The Implementation Specialist will support the implementation of progress and outcome monitoring practices – an evidence-based approach to measuring and monitoring patient/client progress toward treatment goals and long-term outcomes – within collaborating mental illness and addiction treatment services. The Implementation Specialist will work with partners to implement and/or evaluate the progress and outcome monitoring practices by applying effective implementation strategies informed by implementation science.Key Responsibilities Site Support and Project Management:

  • Engage, co-create, and support partners using collaborative planning and problem solving skills in facilitating and supporting implementation, evaluation, quality improvement, and decision- making processes.
  • Facilitate the process of participatory problem solving with team members, partners and other stakeholders to ensure participation and shared understanding among all members.
  • Work with project leads and partners to establish detailed work plans and objectives, and outline timelines and project deliverables.
  • Take a lead role in providing project coordination and implementing practice change.
  • Facilitate ongoing relationships with existing partners and the development of new partnerships.
Evaluation and Research:
  • Use implementation science frameworks, concepts, and tools to guide work plans, activities and inform resource needs/allocation.
  • Use evaluation frameworks, approaches and tools to communicate and monitor/evaluate implementation activities.
  • Contribute to research and evaluation activities that directly relate to the project and/or support ongoing improvement and organizational learning.
  • Collect, analyze and report on both quantitative and qualitative data, as needed.
  • Support strategy development for sustainability and scaling up of progress and outcome monitoring practices in collaboration with team members, partners and key stakeholders.
Knowledge Translation and Communication:
  • Proactively communicate with team members, partners, working groups, and/or stakeholders to keep them informed of the implementation process and evaluation/research activities.
  • Contribute to knowledge translation activities through the production of high-quality reports, presentations, templates, fact sheets, infographics, and other products, as required.
  • Contribute to writing peer-reviewed scientific publications, technical reports, and funder reports, as required.
  • Present progress updates and/or findings to team members, partners, and key stakeholders.
Position Requirements Education Master’s degree in a health related field (e.g., health services research, clinical research, population or public health, social sciences), combined with 2+ years of relevant experience working on large-scale implementation efforts at an agency- or system-level. Training in or knowledge of effective implementation strategies informed by implementation science is strongly preferred. Experience working in the mental health and addictions sector is considered an asset. Training and experience in program evaluation is also considered an asset.Skills and Competencies In addition to the core competencies outlined in the NIRN’s Guiding Principles and Core Competencies for Implementation Practice, a successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively as part of a team and with diverse stakeholders (i.e., researchers, service providers, community services/sites, patients/clients, etc.), are essential to the success of this role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with sound judgement and decision-making skills are also essential.
  • Strong ability to take initiative, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, discretion, courtesy, and respect in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders and to positively represent HRI.
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Capable of adjusting work schedules to meet multiple demands and pressures.
  • Effective project planning and management skills; project management training would be considered an asset.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, including the ability to prepare progress reports and presentations with effective use of visuals.
