Additionally, the IT Administrator assists with the implementation of certain IT architectural and software related projects.We offer a competitive compensation package including:

certificationsThe ideal candidate will be a professional, innovative individual with exceptional communication skills and a thirst for ongoing professional development. The candidate will be someone that knows how to work collaboratively amongst a team of professionals with the capacity to monitor and maintain all systems. The IT Administrator role is integral to the operational efficiency by ensuring that all end user systems are consistently functioning at an optimal level.Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
  • Install and support office productivity tools (MS Office);
  • Implement and maintain all Public Health computer hardware using automation, where applicable;
  • Administer Public Health’s LAN, WAN and Internet connectivity;
  • Administer Public Health’s email system;
  • Provide support to Public Health’s agency web site via consultation with the Communications
department;
  • Develop scripts to automate tasks;
  • Maintain current inventory of hardware and software;
  • Provide support and maintain the telephony system;
  • Administer VPN application to support the remote worker;
  • Maintain local Access/SQL Server databases as required;
  • Provide technical support to Ministry Systems through consultation with Ministry Technical Support, key public health personnel and health systems user groups;
  • Provide support for non-computer technology including but not limited to copier, telephone, voice mail and facsimile systems;
  • Create and maintain IT related documentation when necessary;
  • After hours work may be necessary due to project schedules, deadlines and/or reliability issues.

  • 2-year minimum College diploma in an Information Technology or related field;
  • Minimum of 2 years practical experience;
  • Advanced troubleshooting for all types of technical service requests and issues involving computers, network, smartphones/tablets, AV systems, telephony systems and enterprise applications;
  • Knowledge of networking protocols, Windows Operating Systems, and Office 365 productivity tools;
  • Knowledge of cloud-based systems and hybrid environments;
  • Familiarity with database management software, such as MS SQL;
  • Knowledge of current security and privacy best practices;
  • Ability to prioritize, learn new skills, and have a keen attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently;
  • Able to meet deadlines and manage assignments;
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or related certification preferred;
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Certification preferred;
  • ITIL foundational knowledge is considered an asset;
  • CompTIA A+, Network + certifications are considered an asset;
