Job Description

Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the science of buildings, structures and the environment. We resolve air quality, noise and vibration, and hazard and risk issues for a wide array of industrial, commercial and government clients. We lead integrated design incorporating sustainability, environmental engineering, wind engineering, microclimate, ventilation, noise, acoustics and vibration. Our offices are located in nine countries and we employ over 700+ enthusiastic people.RWDI’s Guelph office is currently accepting applications from students for a four- or eight-month Model Builder Co-op, beginning September 2022. The successful student(s) will help to construct models for wind tunnel testing.You will be provided with an opportunity to:*Work in a team based environment to construct scale models

  • Operate a variety of shop equipment (e.g. jig-saws, band-saws, cordless drills)
  • Decipher information from drawings, sketches, and photos, to construct accurate scale models
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to problem solve modeling issues
*Your background and qualifications should include*:*Ability to, or interest in, constructing detailed scale models using various building materials (e.g. acrylic, styrene, foam)
  • Good hand skills working with small hand and power tools, solvents and glues
  • An aptitude for 3D conceptualization
  • A high level of proficiency in computer applications (AutoCAD)
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven capabilities to set job priorities and meet firm deadlines
