That’s where you come in.What you will do… You will support youth (aged 13-21 years) in a variety of programs for that support their physical, social and mental wellbeing, personal development, leadership skills, and more. You will work as a part of the YMCA Youth Team to plan, promote, implement and facilitate a variety of programs to meet the changings needs of youth in our community. You will build strong, positive and trusting relationships with youth.You will support youth to discover their personal identity regardless of gender, ethnicity, socio economic status. You will inspire youth to have perspectives that promote a positive point of view of self and others. You will provide space for youth to develop leadership skills such as communication, problem solving and teamwork. You will empower youth to explore personal talents to build confidence and self-esteem. You will facilitate connections to networks and opportunities that enable youth to discover their potential. You will promote participation in community activities and volunteerism to enhance civic engagement. You will nurture a global mindset to build awareness and understanding of the global community and their place in it.What you will bring…Ideally, you will have experience working with youth (13-21 yrs.) from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. In addition, you have post-secondary education in Child and Youth Work, Social Sciences, Recreation and Leisure or a related field and an understanding of healthy adolescent development. You will be an excellent communicator, with strong interpersonal and relationship building skills. You are committed to assisting youth develop new skills and have a demonstrated ability to work independently and achieve set goals.
