Job Description

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a Processing Lead for our Guelph, Ontario site.Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products Company touch more than a billion people’s lives every single day through our health care products and services, our corporate giving, and the volunteer efforts of our employees. Our portfolio ranges across several distinct business units: Baby Care, Oral Care, Compromised Skin Care, Beauty, and Over-The-Counter (OTC) products.The Processing Lead, working in conjunction with the Processing Supervisors, Process Engineers, Plant Quality and Business Unit Managers, will:

  • Serve as the lead and coordinator for all Processing & Packaging non-conformance investigations; works to prioritize and coordinate assignments. Ensures the investigations are thoroughly detailed, root causes identified, and appropriate corrective measures implemented to prevent reoccurrence when appropriate. Effectiveness checks should be planned and followed to completion when needed.
  • As part of the Manufacturing Leadership team – spend time working with operators to ensure the safety, regulatory compliance, and productivity of activities performed.
  • Take ownership for ensuring that Processing’s SOPs/OJTs are complete and complimentary. The Processing Leader works with staff throughout the site, and especially the staff performing the work, to ensure the procedures/practices for the manufacturing operations are reflective of best practices.
  • Seek out opportunities for improvements, prepare materials for project approvals, and lead projects to completion to realize safety and/or quality improvements, efficiency improvements, or cost reduction.
  • Ensure training programs for new staff, and retraining/refresher programs for established staff are clear and comprehensive to support effective and consistent equipment set-up and performance.
  • Create and update Processing Metrics (e.g INV trends) and propose recommendations for improvements to: procedures, practices, equipment, and/or training.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate process deviations through discussion with all applicable parties, such as: Production Staff, Tech Ops, Plant Quality, and Maintenance. Prepares reports to summarize of the details surrounding the deviation for input into the EtQ Symphony system.
  • Implements procedural updates in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts in compliance with industry standards. Draft training plans with area SMEs.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective and preventative measures are identified and a plan developed for implementation.
  • Prepare or update any internal documents (SOPS, OJTs) based on agreed upon actions and route for approval.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects for the Processing area, focusing on improvements to: Safety, Quality/Compliance, and Productivity.
  • Review processes with Operators to identify opportunities for equipment repairs or improvements, or process improvements. Act as a coordinator between Processing, Quality, Maintenance and Technical Operations to facilitate the required changes.
  • Other duties as identified or assigned.
QualificationsEducation:
  • B. Sc. (Chemistry, Microbiology), or a B.A.Sc./B. Eng. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
Experience and Skills:Required:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to manage Projects meeting established timelines.
  • Prior experience in solid dose/tablet manufacturing in an OTC/Pharmaceutical facility is a definite benefit.
Other:
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, willing to dig deep to understand underlying issues.
  • Superior written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Self-directed to manage priorities and adhere to deadlines·.
  • Highly proficient in the use of the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Prior experience in statistical analysis is a benefit.
