  • Accurately and quickly receive all samples into their appropriate department using the company Laboratory Management System (ie. LIMS) as this is the point of entry into our process.
  • Accurately label each sample and minimize the risk of cross contamination in order to maintain sample integrity and legitimacy of the test results.
  • Select the client-specified tests for processing while ensuring those tests are appropriate for the type of sample submitted.
  • After assessing the different agricultural commodities submitted, ensure they are each assigned the appropriate commodity.
  • Inform the supervisor of any unusual or questionable submissions to ensure they are properly processed.
  • Conduct sample pre-processing (sub sampling, homogenization, splitting, cleaning) as necessary
  • Organize workload and communicate priorities to the sample preparation technicians.
  • Communicate with clients to clarify requests when needed.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed
  • Data entry into LIMS, Excel, and other data entry modules
  • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Policy and Procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Adhere to company health and safety policies.
  • Directly responsible for their area housekeeping and cleanliness on a daily basis.
  • May be assigned and coordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • A post-secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in an agricultural science program is required.
  • 1 – 3 years previous experience in laboratory setting is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of good laboratory practices.
  • Familiar with official accredited methods such as AOAC, AOCS and USP methodology.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours from time to time.
  • Ensure full compliance with the company’s Health & Safety, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.
