  • coordinate ministry response to regulatory compliance and enforcement issues, complaints, requests for assistance from internal and external partners
  • act as liaison between inspection and investigations field staff and unit Manager
  • provide operational/tactical, mobile and technical support, assistance on inspection and investigative activities
How do I qualifyMandatory:
  • You must have a valid class G drivers licence or equivalent, as recognized by the Province of Ontario. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid drivers licence upon being hired.
Technical expertise:
  • You have experience using investigative techniques, judicial process, rules of evidence and court procedures, legislation to conduct and lead investigations.
  • You have knowledge of relevant legislation, such as Food Safety and Quality Act, 2001, Milk Act, Animal Health Act, etc.
  • You are familiar with modern regulatory compliance principles in line with the OPS Regulator Code of Practice, procedures and practices pertaining to compliance with provincial legislation and related regulations.
Interpersonal and communication skills:
  • You have proven presentation skills to present cases, provide clear, concise, credible testimony in court, and objectively summarize information about contentious issues for senior managers.
  • You can demonstrate professionalism, tact and diplomacy, and the ability to maintain composure in contentious situations.
  • You have interviewing, listening and observation skills to interpret subtle verbal and non-verbal cues in order to communicate with people in a variety of situations, and to effectively gather accurate information.
  • You have interpersonal skills to liaise with all levels of staff, executives, police, other government agencies, legal representatives and members of the public.
Leadership skills
  • You have proven leadership and organizational skills to direct and provide technical direction and guidance to inspection and investigation teams in daily work and for special projects.
  • You have the ability to use excellent judgement in making decisions on contentious issues and make recommendations that are strategic and guided by legislation and regulation.
Analytical skills:
  • You have the ability to interpret, assess and advise on legislation, regulations, policy, procedures, agreements, standards and contracts to ensure legal enforcement that protects the rights of the public and respects Ministry requirements.
  • You can recognize the potential risks and impacts of the problem on a wider scale and the broader impact of actions.
  • You are able to develop, maintain and analyse records and data to optimize resources, note trends, and report on performance and outcomes.
