We champion a scientific culture in our skilled and diverse teams who are passionate about excellence, innovation, and delivering a single version of the truth to our business partners to support our organization in achieving operational excellence.As the Vice President (VP) of Property & Casualty (P&C) Business Intelligence (BI) and Chief Analytics Officer (CAO), you will enable an insights-driven organization by growing the value of data as an asset at The Co-operators. You will drive forward cutting edge analytics and future insights for the P&C Operations. The VP, P&C BI and CAO will partner collaboratively with the Chief Data Officer to develop a new enterprise data strategy involving key stakeholders to advance both our data and analytic capabilities.How you will create impact:

  • Defining and driving the strategic Business Intelligence vision across people, process, and data elements.
  • Proposing, championing, and guiding business transformational strategies and projects leveraging cutting-edge science and advanced analytics.
  • Leading the center of excellence in advanced analytics providing services through a center of expertise model in partnership with key business partners.
  • Organizing and co-leading data and analytics governance council(s) to provide executive sponsorship and oversight of data governance policy creation and compliance.
  • Ensuring that data/analytics environments are “fit for purpose”.
  • Establishing, refining, and operationalizing data & analytics governance on models, scientific methodology, reconciliation, measurability, and data life cycle.
  • Fostering collaboration between BI, technology, business, and other stakeholders to enable the successful delivery of the Co-operators strategy and vision.
  • Inspiring and motivating your leadership team to define and execute strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing leadership talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, diverse, and agile culture.

  • You are integral in identifying and implementing the long-term vision for the organization and apply a strategic mindset to adjust business priorities based on emerging trends.
To join our team:
  • You have 10 or more years of progressive experience in Business Intelligence, Actuarial, and/or Information Technology, including 5 or more years of experience leading teams.
  • You have a post-secondary or Master’s level degree in data science, computer science, business, actuarial, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Having an ACAS, FCAS, FSA, or CA is an asset.
  • You have experience in developing strategies, leading transformational change, governance, and operational excellence, and have knowledge of multiple areas such as business intelligence, advanced analytics, actuarial, quantitative, artificial intelligence, and technology/data warehousing.
  • You have experience working in the insurance, wealth, financial services, or industry sector that has similarly related complex business intelligence and advanced data analytics.
