We are now hiring for 2nd Cooks to work in our flight kitchen located at our Toronto unit (2498 Britannia Road East Mississauga, ON). He/she must follow consistently all the food safety and HACCP principles in line with Gate Gourmet Food Safety policies and procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for timely, proper, and efficient preparation of all food items according to the correct menu specifications, recipes, and passenger load requirements.Ensure the proper use of raw materials in a continuous effort to keep wastage to a minimum. Comply with and practice the companys established Food Safety/ HACCP Policy and Procedures. Assuring that the quality standards of the food is maintained all the timeCo-ordinate with Assembly/Food Packing staff to make sure their work is not delayed, and all dished meals are in accordance with the airline specsResponsible for managing inventory, ensure FIFO is being followedShould have basic knowledge, experience, and skills to work with various modern kitchen equipment Rational Oven, Fryer, Steam Kettles, Char Broiler, Flat top Stove, Cooking Gas range etc.Job Specific Requirements:At least 1-year experience cooking in a hotel kitchen/restaurant or manufacturing high volume catering environmentExperience cooking in various cuisines Asian/Indian/Continental/ is an assetMust be able to read, write and follow food specifications and menu guidelines in EnglishOur Employees Must Be Able to:Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends and holidaysArrive to work on-timePass a criminal background checkEducation RequirementsCulinary degree or cooking certification preferredEnvironmental Requirements:Will be exposed to extreme temperature changes and noiseMust be able to lift, push, pull, move product, equipment and supplies up to fifty (50) poundsRegularly stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during shifts of 8 hoursDemonstrated Competencies to be Successful in the Position:Thinking - Information search and analysis, problem resolution skillsEngaging - Understanding others, team leadership, developing peopleInspiring - Influencing and building relationships, motivating and inspiring, communicating effectivelyAchieving - Delivering business results under pressure, championing performance improvement, customer focusThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position.
