Job Description

Job DescriptionAECOM is currently seeking a Health and safety Manager for a large, multi-disciplinary Hydropower construction project located in Canada. The selected candidate will interact daily with the project team, Client/Owner and contractor’s on-site teams, and reporting directly to the Project Manager. This position may work anywhere in Canada with visits to site.The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies and procedures for the hydropower project. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in health and safety management within large-scale construction or engineering projects, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and best practices.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety management system tailored to the hydropower project.
  • Conduct risk assessments and regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead health and safety training programs for project staff and subcontractors to promote a safety-first culture.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders regarding health and safety matters.
