The IBEW Local 625 Electrical Training Trust (ETT) located in Lakeside, Nova Scotia is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Electrical program. This program provides students with a high degree of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the electrical construction, maintenance, and industrial trade sectors. You will be responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles. As a member of the IBEW Local 625 Electrical Training Trust faculty team, you will provide theoretical and practical instruction in the Electrical Construction and Industrial block apprenticeship training. The IBEW Local 625 Electrical Training Trust offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a competitive salary for this position, which is based on relevant occupational experience, instructional experience (instructional experience is defined as teaching high school Grade 10 and above), and relevant educational qualifications and experience.QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience:Ø The minimum educational qualification for this position is a current Inter-provincial Journeyperson in the Construction or Industrial Electrician tradeØ You have a minimum of five years of recent and related post journeyperson occupational experience in electrical Construction and/or Industrial trade. Occupational experience that includes experience in a supervisory capacity; evaluating, monitoring, assessing, and advising will be considered an asset.Ø Availability to teach daytime hoursØ Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry would be considered an assetØ Formal studies, such as a Bachelor of Education degree, in adult or higher education would be considered an assetØ Excellent communications and interpersonal skillsØ You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and E-mailØ You possess basic Internet skills to search for information coupled with Internet information skills to evaluate the information you find. Above all, you are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in support of an exceptional student experience.Ø You have knowledge and experience in applying WHMIS, Occupational Health and Safety and occupation-specific safety practices.Ø Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of studentsCommitted to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities and related duties include, but are not limited to:Ø Delivering course curriculum in the classroom, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniquesØ Tutoring and academic counseling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students #39; work within assigned coursesØ Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learningØ Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicableØ Academic and career advisementØ Curriculum revision/development through a collaborative practice with other facultyØ Ensure health and safety practices and procedures are followed in the classroom, shops, and labsØ Maintain currency with the latest industry practices relevant to your program and to continually develop your understanding of 21st century teaching and learning practicesThe IBEW Local 625 Electrical Training Trust welcomes diversity in the workplace and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minorities, Indigenous People, and persons with disabilities.Note: Copies of educational credentials are requested at the time of an interview.
