Job Description

MatrixHR is currently looking to recruit a Industrial Electrical Technologist for a long term project located in Halifax NS. This role will work closely with the Automationamp; Controls Manager and Project Manager.All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Government Security clearance.Pay Rate: $40 - $44 per hour.Project Execution

  • Responsible for end to end testing, downloading programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects.
  • Wiring and building panels and performing quality checks.
  • Provides input to the project planning process, assesses the time required for the project engineering and the detailed design tasks.
  • Designs, redesigns and supports product design and development.
  • Testing and trouble-shooting equipment.
  • Cable routing, installation and termination of cables on electrical equipment.
  • Supports Field Engineers during start-up and commissioning.
  • Update AutoCAD control panel drawing and wiring diagrams under the supervision of the Automationamp; Controls Manager.
  • Reading and interpreting control sequence logic from control philosophy documents.
  • Verifying electrical and PLC and touchscreen programming during the equipment development phase and update PLC Programs as needed.
  • Checking the calibration of system sensors and transmitters.
  • Filling out commissioning documentation.
  • Works closely with other teams such as Refrigeration and/or HVAC projects teams.
  • Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security.
Which candidate profile are we looking for
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC/Controls; or equivalent combination of education (Technical School).
  • Instrumentationamp; Automation College Degree (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with various PLC and Industrial controls systems.
  • Familiar with PLC programming and implementation (Siemens Step 7 and Logo Controller, Beijer).
  • Autonomous with strong root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills in automation.
  • Is familiar with HVAC Systems.
  • Ability to learn quickly and to cope with changes.
  • Experience in drawing panel layouts in AutoCAD Electric (or other software) – an asset.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft software.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 10%.
  • Red seal electrical an asset.
