About This Opportunity The Wije #39;winen Health Centre downtown Halifax is seeking a 0.2 FTE to cover a maternity leave from April 2024 to January 2025 (end date flexible).This is a fantastic multidisciplinary clinic serving Mi #39;kmaq families in Halifax and beyond. The centre is located within the Mi #39;kmaw Native Friendship Centre on Brunswick Street. This clinic refers collaboratively to the other teams at the centre including mental health, housing, social work and so much more! There is a pediatrician and psychiatrist starting very soon as well.There are three MOA #39;s, a RN, the medical director, (who is also a LPN), a mental health LPN, and three other family physicians (who each work a day a week at the clinic). There have been, and will continue to be, medical students and residents working with this team, (usually on electives).Pay is based on the current CAFP agreement.Wije #39;winen Health Centre is a very rewarding place to work.Here is the clinic website: https://www.wijewinenhealthcentre.com/Any interested physicians can contact Ashley Williams (cell 782-409-6542, email ashleycampbellwilliams@gmail.com) and she can help set up an in person or virtual meeting with Dr. Brent Young (clinical lead) and Paulina Meader (medical director).Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease preventionConsultation and referral to other medical practitioners’Act as a patient’s advocatePrescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinationsReport births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements Expected Hours Part time locum, 0.2 FTE.
