Financial Services is a core service unit of the University, providing services in areas of financial accounting, budgeting, procurement and risk management, cash management, financial systems and policies, and the University’s endowment, pension and short term investment programs. Reporting to the Associate Director, Research Accounting, the Manager of Research Accounting will administer a portfolio of research accounts which are multi-million dollar, diverse and multi-partner in nature.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a resource person and advisor to faculty, departmental administrators, and support staff regarding the university’s policies and procedures related to financial administration. Prepare financial statements, invoices and reports for research grants and contracts including consultation with partners. Oversee activities related to maintenance and control of Research Accounts including account balances. Work closely with Office of Research Services to facilitate the efficient administration of research accounts. Identify and review accounts that could potentially become overspent and meet with researchers to develop feasible budgets. Oversee follow-up with account holders and negotiate the resolution of any over expenditures. Manage research accounting staff.NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.Required QualificationsUndergraduate degree in related field such as Accounting or Business Administration plus at least five years relevant work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Experience in financial administration of research funding. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills. Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Advanced spreadsheet, data management and analysis skills.
