Summer Student Assistant SMU Holy Cross Chaplaincy Halifax, NS Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth (offer of summer employment are contingent on government funding approval) Accountability: The Summer Student Assistant directly reports to the Chaplaincy Coordinator Holy Cross Chaplaincy Summer Student, a summer employment opportunity that is funded through Nova Scotia Student Summer Incentive Program (SKILL), a program which provides employment opportunities for students. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Nova Scotia or live in Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term. The successful candidate must be entering full time post-secondary studies in the fall semester immediately following the work term or continuing full-time post-secondary studies following the work term. This will be a full-time term position, running from May to the end of August. Applicants must be available for the entirety of the work term. The successful candidate is enrolled in a post secondary program. Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as the Holy Cross Chaplaincy Summer Student. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting the Holy Cross Chaplaincy Staff in various aspects of campus ministry, fundraising, summer programming, and administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for a student who is passionate about fostering a vibrant spiritual community on campus and gaining valuable experience in the fields of ministry and administration. Main duties and Responsibilities: (main functions but not limited to the following) Campus Ministry SupportAssist in the development of resources for campus ministry activities. Collaborate with the Chaplaincy Staff to organize and execute spiritual events, gatherings, and initiatives.FundraisingContribute to fundraising efforts by engaging with donors, creating promotional materials, and assisting in fundraising events. Help maintain donor records and ensure timely acknowledgment of contributions.Summer ProgrammingPlay a crucial role in planning and executing summer programs for students, creating engaging and meaningful experiences. Collaborate with the Chaplaincy Staff to design and implement a diverse range of activities that cater to the spiritual needs of the student community during the summer months.Administrative SupportProvide administrative assistance to the Chaplaincy Staff, including scheduling, data entry, and document preparation. Assist in maintaining organized records and databases related to ministry activities.Qualifications:Current enrollment in a college or university program. Strong organizational and communication skills. Passion for campus ministry and creating inclusive spiritual experiences. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Proficient in basic administrative tasks and computer applications.Benefits:Gain hands-on experience in campus ministry and administration.
