Job Description

HOURS - Must be available to work rotating and varying Days and Evening shifts and 1 in 5 weekends. 37.5 hours per weekWho We AreThe work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community #39;s most marginalized members.This full-time opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Welkom House, HOMES ProgramHow You Will Make an ImpactThe HOMES program provides supportive housing to persons who have been homeless and are living with a mental illness. Team members support tenants to reach personal goals and to have a satisfying and meaningful life in the community.In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of tenants living at Welkom House. Services to tenants include assessment, planning, crisis prevention and intervention, and supportive counseling.

  • Provide tenants with primary case management and community resources
  • Services to tenants include assessmentamp; planning
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention and supportive counseling
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Good Shepherd mission values of Hospitality, Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Quality and Dignity
  • Must be willing and able to assist service users in a hands-on capacity
  • Time management skills are necessary in a high energy, rapidly paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
What You #39;ll Bring to Our Team
  • A post-secondary education in social or health services
  • A minimum of three years #39; experience in mental health, and concurrent disorders is required
  • Recovery orientation #39; and#39;consumer driven #39; style of practice is essential
  • Possess the ability to work independently and think creatively
  • Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
  • CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
  • Adhere to working and operating within an anti-racism and anti-oppression framework
  • Fluency in a 2nd language is an asset
  • Committed to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to the mission and values of Good Shepherd
