Job Description

Limited CompetitionThis job opening is limited to residents living within 40 kilometres driving distance of Hay River.Department InformationCommission scolaire francophone des Territoires du Nord-OuestJob InformationThe Relief Custodian reports to the Principal at École Boréale, and is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that the school is maintained as a healthy, safe and sanitary environment for students, staff and the general public.The knowledge, skills and abilities required for this position are:

  • Understanding of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, products and equipment;
  • Knowledge of local culture and the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions;
  • Ability to work under limited supervision;
  • Effective time management skills;
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
The ability to speak a local Indigenous language is an asset.Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by the completion of Grade 10 and related experience; the completion of a WHIMIS course.
