Your Opportunity:In this position the AMH Recovery Worker will provide support to the community following the flooding in spring 2020. You will engage community members, facilitate referrals and support follow-up to patients as well as develop and implement programs and psycho-educational presentations. This position provides care from a trauma informed perspective and works collaboratively with Mental Health Therapists and Nursing staff concerning client care. Fort Vermilion is located in beautiful northern Alberta where the northern lights, shows of aurora borealis in this region can number up to 300 per year. Colors of red, blue, green, and yellow flow across these magical skies and are particularly prominent during the clear nights of winter. Annual community events include a winter carnival, outdoor rodeo and River Daze to name a few. Fort Vermilion is located approximately 530 kilometers northeast of Grande Prairie and 818 kilometers northwest of Edmonton. AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.Description:As an Addiction and Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will contribute to the delivery of community based services to persons with a chronic addiction and/or severe and persistent mental illness using psychosocial rehabilitation principles, promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. Your duties will include carrying out assigned tasks in a client focused recovery plan which includes support to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will work collaboratively with other health and service providers. In this position, you will work under the direction of a regulated health provider.
