Job Description

Your Opportunity:The town of High Level is located in the scenic northwestern Alberta. The successful candidate will be joining a strong management team and will be responsible for the dynamic and diverse portfolio of Addiction & Mental Health. Northern Allowance: In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Travel Expense Reimbursement: Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over.Description:Reporting to the Director-Rural Community Services, Addiction & Mental Health (AMH), NZ the Manager provides leadership within Area 1(High Level, Fort Vermilion, La Crete & Rainbow Lake) & is responsible for a range of community AMH services & programs. In this role, the manager will engage First Nations, Métis & Inuit communities by nurturing trust & a willingness to collaborate with AHS. The manager is responsible & accountable for providing direction, team leadership, planning, implementation & evaluation of a range of AMH services. Other areas of responsibility include, contributing to the development of zone level strategic goals & operationalizing them at a local level while adhering to fiscal realities, provincial policy & standards, legislation & best practice. The incumbent establishes protocols & linkages for service delivery, develops & maintains internal capacity & skill to meet regional service needs, provides management & leadership to interdisciplinary teams & builds/maintains solid working intra & inter regional partnerships to achieve the goals of this position. The position is a participating member of the North Zone AMH Management team & will represent regional interests as assigned at various forums. The incumbent is responsible for managing HR issues & conducting financial & budget processes. Developing & maintaining strong community relations to support strategic goals & to enhance capacity in the community is the responsibility of the manager. The manager is responsible for the performance & results of staff within the area of responsibility. The Manager is responsible for building & maintaining rapport with contracted partners within the area. Since the manger covers a large geographic area, travel to clinics on a frequent basis is required.

Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in a related health services field. 5 years of recent direct care in the addiction and mental health fields in progressively responsible positions within inpatient and/or community mental health.Additional Required Qualifications:5-7 years of supervisor or other leadership experience. Change management knowledge. Financial management. Knowledge and expertise in people management and working in a public health system. Project management. Strong communication skills, listening, verbal and written. Discretion and understanding of how to effectively manage sensitive issues. Professionally qualified and strong knowledge and skills in addiction and mental health assessment and treatment, including understanding of current evidenced based practices. Working knowledge of role of residential addictions treatment and inpatient psychiatry in the continuum of services. Leadership skills and expertise. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills. Crisis management and emergency response skills. Effective interpersonal relationship building skills. Organization, planning, program, protocol, procedure development and implementation skills. Knowledge of budget forecasting and resource expenditure management. Proficient use of Microsoft office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet).Preferred Qualifications:Education in management and a graduate degree is desired.Quick Apply
