• Primary responsibilities of this position include: phlebotomy, micro collections by heel or finger stick, ECG’s, specimen processing, glucose meter testing, and urinalysis testing and reporting
• Ensures “customer” focus by maintaining appropriate communication, both written and verbal, between internal and external clients
• Assists in orientation/training of new staff, co-workers and external clients including students, medical residents, nurses
• Ensures that quality control and maintenance of equipment are completed as scheduled and that the work area is maintained in a neat and organised manner
• Prepares supply order by monitoring department/site inventory usage to maintain adequate supplies
• Performs other duties as assigned by Manager and designates

Required Skills

• Excellent keyboarding and data entry skills
• Communication with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals is required on a constant basis
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities and ability to work independently

Required Experience

• Experience in the medical field, including training and/or experience using medical terminology
• Experience using a variety of Laboratory Information Systems and other computer programs

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent
• Recent venipuncture experience within the last 12 months is required

Other Information

• The current shift indicated is subject to change due to operational requirements.
• Shifts will predominantly be at the Northwest Health Center in High Level. However, shifts at La Crete Health Center in La Crete, and at the St. Theresa General Hospital in Fort Vermilion may be expected.
• In addition to the hourly wage a 2% Northern Premium plus Northern Living Allowance will be included
• Relocation assistance may be available.
• All persons newly hired to DynaLIFE must show their confirmation of SIN letter/SIN card and government issued photo ID to Human Resources prior to commencing work.
• All persons hired to DynaLIFE must be authorized to work in Canada for any employer.
• Individuals hired into all positions must provide verification of their highest level of education.
• A security clearance will be required for employees newly hired to DynaLIFE.
• A security clearance with vulnerable sector completed may be required for employees newly hired to DynaLIFE.
• All DynaLIFEDx employees are required to be fully immunized against COVID-19 with a Health Canada approved vaccine as a condition of employment
