The Northwest Health Center laboratory provides opportunities to work to your full scope of practice in a multidisciplinary environment. If you are looking to make a positive impact in healthcare delivery to a community, High Level is building a team that focuses on new and exciting ways to deliver diagnostic services.Major Functions and ResponsibilitiesPrimary responsibilities of this position include: phlebotomy, micro collections by heel or finger stick, ECG’s, specimen processing, glucose meter testing, and urinalysis testing and reportingEnsures “customer” focus by maintaining appropriate communication, both written and verbal, between internal and external clientsEnsures that quality control and maintenance of equipment are completed as scheduled and that the work area is maintained in a neat and organised mannerRequired SkillsExcellent keyboarding and data entry skillsCommunication with patients, physicians, and other health care professionals is required on a constant basisExcellent organizational and time management abilities and ability to work independentlyRequired ExperienceExperience in the medical field, including training and/or experience using medical terminologyExperience using a variety of Laboratory Information Systems and other computer programsMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentSuccessful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training programRecent venipuncture experience within the last 12 months is requiredOther InformationThe current shift indicated is subject to change due to operational requirements.Shifts will predominantly be at the Northwest Health Center in High Level.
