It is a challenging role that provides leadership to a team that works hard to serve our audiences across Inuit Nunangat in Inuktitut and English.Your roleAs an Assignment Producer, your primary focus is to plan, conceive, organize, and develop news programming for radio, television and on-line at CBC in Nunavut. You lead a team of journalists in providing our daily news content. You are responsible for ensuring that work adheres to CBC journalistic standards and practises. You play a key role in the development and mentoring of new journalists.You ensure our stories are fair, balanced, accurate, thoughtful, immediate and resonate with the communities we serve. You’re innovative and will champion new story treatments and new workflows. You are keen to help create a diverse range of content on our radio, television, digital and social platforms. You’re not afraid to take creative risks, and you inspire others to do the same.You understand the diverse and changing population across our region and the importance of reflecting all our communities in our content.You live and promote an inclusive and respectful work culture. You have an understanding of the diverse culture of Inuit Nunangat and northern Canada.We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant journalistic experience in on-line, radio and TV news.
  • Proficiency with on-line, radio and TV production and presentation technologies.
  • Knowledge of, and interest in, the culture and politics of Inuit and the north.
  • Strong Inuktitut skills, and good skills in English.
  • Good computer skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring and coaching abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
