Assistant Department Manager, General MerchandiseNorthern and NorthMart is looking for full time Assistant Department Managers, General Merchandise for stores across northern Canada.What it takes to be a Assistant Department Manager with us;Assistant Department Managers play a valuable role in the day-to-day operations of our stores to ensure we provide a variety of essential services to the communities in which we operate. Being an Assistant, Department Manager can be incredibly varied. You could be merchandising or ordering for a specific department, serving customers at the till, receiving deliveries, planning the scheduling for your team or taking charge of the store when the Department Manager is away.What you can look forward to:

What you’ll need to begin your career with usWe’re looking for Assistant Department Managers with a healthy sense of adventure, who is willing to lead from the front, displays a strong work ethic, and has the ability to work well in changeable situations.You will also bring:
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years retail management experience with accountability for people and operations management
  • 2 to 3 years department experience required (grocery or general merchandise depending on the position)
  • Knowledge of retail merchandising and operational execution practices
  • Demonstrated openness, adaptability and tolerance. Work experience within a different culture(s) would be an asset
