Successful applicants will enjoy a competitive salary, medical and dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, relocation privileges and opportunities for training and career advancementReporting to the Territorial Nutritionist, the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) Specialist provides an integrated, coordinated community-based prenatal nutrition program in Nunavut. The CPNP Specialist also provides on-going communication to community CPNP coordinators with regards to operational support, training and knowledge sharing and ensures overall program accountability, in a manner consistent with federal program guidelines that meets the needs of Nunavut communities.The Specialist works closely with the Territorial Nutritionist, broader nutrition team, Measurement and Evaluation Specialist, and CPNP Advisory Group to provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the programs in order to ensure that the programs are working towards the program goals. The Specialist also provides expertise related to prenatal and infant nutrition, optimizing program delivery and acting as a resource in this area.To be successful in the position, the incumbent must be a Registered Dietitian with a provincial regulatory body and hold a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, biochemistry or other program leading to acceptance to accredited deictic internship. Three (3) years community nutrition or related experience is required. Experience working with and supporting community-based nutrition programming, program and financial management and program evaluation are considered assets. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.As this is a term position until June 28, 2024, current indeterminate Government of Nunavut employees may be offered a competitive transfer assignment for the duration of the term if they are deemed to be the successful candidate, however this is subject to managerial approval.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
