Job Description

Title: Heavy Equipment OperatorDepartment: Public WorksStatus: Full-time Permanent, 40 hour/weekSalary: $62,152.58SettlementAllowance: $20,907.43Union Status: UnionizedHousing: No Staff housing availableClosing Date: Open until filled.Under the direction of the Roads Foreman, Heavy Equipment Operators perform an array of routine and seasonal maintenance on roads, walkways and trails. As an Operator, you would find yourself performing daily operational checks and safely using various pieces of heavy equipment including graders, wheel dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks with winter harnesses and plows. This imperative role comes with long hours, shift work and working in adverse weather conditions.The ideal candidate shall possess:

  • Heavy Equipment Operator certificate; additional related certifications are definite assets
  • Minimum one (1) years’ work experience operating heavy equipment
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement
  • Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude for the operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Proven experience in operating at least three pieces of heavy equipment as described above; experience using an excavator with hammer would be an asset
