With the support of the Policy Analyst – Public Agencies, the Manager will identify, research, develop, recommend, and help implement policies and procedures to strengthen public agency operations. As the primary resource to both the Financial Management Board of Ministers (FMB) and the agencies, the Manager plays a key role in the evolution of their structure, governance and financial stability, the relationship between the Government of Nunavut (GN) and its agencies, and the accountability and transparency of public agencies with respect to their reporting to the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut and Nunavummiut.By monitoring, evaluating, and providing hands-on assistance to agencies in all areas of their corporate, fiscal, and financial policy and governance, the Manager adds value to the agencies and the GN. A team player in an integrated Corporate Policy shop, the Manager supervises the Policy Analyst – Public Agencies and works closely with the other members of the immediate team and wider department towards helping agencies and their Boards operate effectively and professionally.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, or related field, along with three (3) years of related experience developing and analyzing public and financial policy in a large organization or government setting. Supervisory experience is required. Experience can include program delivery or management, public relations, or upper management employment.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
