The Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating cancer screening standards and processes along the cancer screening pathway.The Regional Pathway Coordinator works to establish and maintain links between the program, clients, health care providers, community agencies and stakeholders. The Coordinator develops policies and standards, monitors, and evaluates services, collaborates in the coordination of education and cancer screening awareness activities with a territorial focus, and acts as a resource for community health nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals, as well as the community, in matters related to cancer screening. The position also conducts community-based outreach and public/professional education to inform, recruit, and promote for the cancer screening program. The development of this program and the tasks involved will require the Coordinator to work with Department of Health program staff, including individuals at Qikiqtani General Hospital and the Regional Health Centers. The incumbent will also be responsible to sustain and cultivate partnerships with southern cancer care agencies and care providers, as well as communities and other stakeholders.The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually acquired through a recognized undergraduate degree in Health-related field such as health sciences, public health, nursing or related field, along with two (2) years of related work experience. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.Acceptable combinations of education and experience may be considered for this position.
